RAYMOND, Miss. – The men's soccer team earned the MACJC North Division Championship with an exciting 3-2 win over rival Hinds Community College on Friday.
How it Happened
Luan Balestieri (Rio Grande, Brazil) scored on a pair of free kicks to give the Indians a 2-0 lead before Hinds got on the board in the 66th minute.
Clayton O'Daniel (Tupelo) scored the eventual game-winning goal off an assist from Weston Mitchell (Corinth) in the 89th minute.
The Eagles quickly rushed down the field and put the ball in play as the Indians celebrated the victory to make it a 3-2 game in the final seconds of the night.
Brandon Tita-nwa (Olive Branch) went the distance in net for the Indians allowing a pair of goals while making five saves in the win.

Balestieri scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season. He also leads the Indians with six assists on the year.

With the North Division Championship in the bag, the Indians will get a bye into the semifinals of the MACJC State Tournament on Saturday, October 20. The South Division Women's champion will host this year's tournament and No. 16 Jones College currently leads the standings at 5-0.
Up Next: The Indians will look to remain unbeaten in North Division play as they travel to Senatobia to take on Northwest at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
