Max Munn, who began his career with ICC in 1974, coached the Lady Indians' basketball team from 1979-93 and assisted head coach Linda Partlow with the Lady Indians softball team for three years.
In his 14 years at ICC, Munn guided the Lady Indians to eight championships at the Pre-Thanksgiving tournament at the Pearl River Classic Championship, two Gadsden, Ala. Classic Championships and the 1989 Pensacola Classic Championship. The Little Rock (Miss.) native was a three-sport letterman (basketball, baseball and track) at Beulah Hubbard High School, and after graduating, he continued his basketball and baseball career at East Central Junior College.
Munn earned the bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and the master's degree from Mississippi State University. His positions at ICC included director of Student Services at the Tupelo Campus and director of Student Affairs and counselor at the Fulton Campus. He retired in 2003. Previously Munn was physical education teacher, coach and counselor for the Tupelo schools. He currently is an insurance agent with Hughes Agency in Fulton, and in 2011, he founded and currently serves as chair of Helping Hands Helping Homeless, Inc.
He and his wife, Terry, have one daughter, Lindsey Shafer, son-in-law, Daniel, and three grandchildren, Cruz, Sterling and Mercedes.
