A native of Fulton, Bryan Spencer Grissom is a 1989 graduate of ICC, where he played football and baseball. He was the starting quarterback for head football coach Mike Eaton as a freshman and starting safety as a sophomore as well as starting outfielder for head baseball coach Roy Cresap both years.

His honors included Best Defensive Back for football and Team Leadership award for baseball. He earned the bachelor's degree from Birmingham-Southern College, where he started as an outfielder for two years, and the master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Grissom is a graduate of the American Bankers Association - National School for Bank Security. He was previously appointed to serve on the Tennessee Bankers Association - Bank Security Committee and was recognized by the Director of the U.S. Secret Service for superior contributions to law enforcement responsibilities of the U.S. Secret Service. His 23-year career in fraud investigations, security operations and risk management includes his current position, corporate investigations manager (vice president) for FirstBank in Memphis, Tenn. as well as related positions at Accredo Health Group/Medco, First Tennessee Bank and Regions Bank. He is the son of Wayne and Jennie Vee Grissom of Fulton. In connection with Briarcrest Christian School and First Assembly Christian School, both in Memphis, Grissom has coached junior league football, baseball and girls' softball and has also served as president of the booster clubs and serves on the athletic board of directors for both football and baseball at First Assembly Christian School. He is a member of the Independent Presbyterian Church in Memphis.

Grissom is married to the former Mary Margaret Comer, PharmD. They are the parents of two children, Jack and Ava Caroline.
