Wayne Booker of Memphis played basketball for ICC Coach Wayne Newsom during the 1978-79 and 79-80 seasons.
During his sophomore year, he was named MACJC All-State, NJCAA All-Region, honorable mention NJCAA All-American and MVP of the MACJC North-South All-Star game.
Booker led the Indians in assists his second year, which is unique for a forward. He went on to a standout career at Southeastern Louisiana.
He worked with Memphis City School children including sponsorship of a basketball clinic for high school seniors to provide them an opportunity to gain a college scholarship.
