Gerald Goodman of Danville, Ky. has been selected as Itawamba Community College's inductee into the 2022 Mississippi Community Colleges Sports Hall of Fame.
He is a graduate of Blountstown (Fla.) High School where he was quarterback of the 1973 state 2A championship team. From there, then-IJC coach Ben Jones signed him to play the same position for the Indians. While at IJC, Goodman helped lead the team to a North Division title in 1974 and the first state championship in the school's history in 1975. He finished his playing career at the University of North Alabama where he started and played quarterback for now-retired well-renowned Coach Mickey Andrews. He earned the master's degree from the University of West Florida in 1989.
In 2001, Goodman was inducted into ICC's Athletic Hall of Fame, and in 2015, the Blountstown High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Goodman was a football coach for several years at Blountstown High School, Marion Military Institute, University of Louisville, University of North Alabama, Mississippi State University and the University of Southern Mississippi.
From 1989-95, Goodman worked for the PGA TOUR; then for 15 years, as an independent contractor, he ran the PGA TOUR event in Tampa, Fla. In 2011, he returned to work for the PGA TOUR as executive director of the World Golf Championship Match Play in Tucson, Ariz. In 2016, he became executive director of the World Golf Championship – Mexico Championship in Mexico City.
Following his retirement from the PGA TOUR in 2021, he moved to Danville, Ky., where he and his wife, Susan, started Goodman Consulting, which coordinates events and sponsorships for companies.
