FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College sophomore defensive back Sharone Wright (Houston) was presented with the Bennie Abram LEGACY award during a special ceremony before the Indians’ home opener against Holmes Community College.

The award is chosen by the ICC coaching staff and is presented to a sophomore player that they feel best reflects the life and legacy of the former Indian defensive back.

The award is given to a sophomore player that maintains a 3.0 or above GPA. The recipient will serve as team captain and wear a patch of Abram’s number (30) on his jersey throughout the season.

Wright's name has been enshrined on a plaque in the ICC football field house along with former winners to help preserve the spirit Abram brought to ICC.

Other winners include: Alex Thornton (Shannon) in 2010, Canden Dallas (Pontotoc) in 2011, Demarius Howard (Calhoun City) in 2012, and Tobias Loftin (Forest) in 2013.
