Indians fall to Northwest in Region 23 Tournament

POPLARVILLE - The Itawamba Community College volleyball team's season ended Friday following a 3-1 loss to the Northwest Lady Rangers in the Region 23 Tournament.

After dropping the first set, 16-25, the Indians evened the match with a 25-22 win in the second set. However, ICC just couldn't keep up with the Rangers, losing 25-15 in each of the next two sets.

Bree Lyons (Oxford) led the team with 12 kills while Aubrey Swanson (Corinth) followed with 10 of her own. Abbi Upchurch (Starkville) and Sadie Stegall (Pontotoc) also added six and five kills respectively.

Audrey Hamill (Pontotoc) had a team-best 16 assists with Presley Jones (Killen, Ala.) contributing 15. Mia Griffin (Corinth) had the most digs with 15 while Lyons and Kensley Woolbright (Columbus) both had nine. Ashelyn Isbell (Corinth) led the Indians with three solo blocks.

The Indians finished the 2023 season 15-17 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
