Indians overcome early deficit to defeat Bevill State

Fulton, Miss. – Itawamba Community College volleyball dropped the first set to Bevill State Wednesday night but rebounded to win the next three sets to pick up the 3-1 win.

Bevill State won the opening set, 26-24, but the Indians (13-8) tied the match with a 25-20 second set win. The Indians dominated the third set, winning 25-11 and closed out the night with a 25-15 fourth set victory.

Audrey Hamill (Pontotoc) had a big night picking up 22 assists that helped the Indians to 45 kills in the contest. Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) had a team-high 11 kills and added 14 assists, while Kailynn Johnson (Olive Branch) added 10 kills.

The Indians picked up 69 digs to help slowdown Bevill State's kills and Thornell led the charge with 16 and Lydia Hitchcock (Boaz, Ala.) followed with 12.

 Next up for the Indians is a rematch with Champions Christian College in Hot Springs, Ark. On Thursday, Oct. 13. In their first meeting, the Indians picked up a 3-1 win over the Tigers.
