Indians defeat Champions Christian, 3-1

Fulton, Miss. - Itawamba Community College volleyball defeated Champions Christian College, 3-1, Monday to snap a four game losing streak.

The Indians (12-8) won a tight first set, 25-23 and took a 2-0 lead with a dominate 25-7 win in the second set. However, the Tigers fought back to win the third set 25-17 and force a fourth set. The Indians took the fourth set, 25-17 to close out the game and pick up the win.

Kailynn Johnson (Olive Branch) led the Indians' offensive attack with 13 kills and Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) had a team-high 18 assists. 

Defensively, the Indians had 72 digs led by Lydia Hitchcock (Boaz, Ala.) with 18, and followed by Audrey Hamill (Pontotoc) with 11 and Kate Nakagawa (Corinth) with 10.

The Indians return to action Wednesday night when they host Bevill State Community College at 5:30 p.m. on Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
