Indians defeat Walters State, 3-1

Hanceville, Ala. – Itawamba Community College volleyball opened the Wallace State Fall Bash with a 3-1 win over Walter's State Friday.

The Indians (11-4) won a 27-25 battle in the first set and took a 2-0 lead with a 25-15 win in the second set. Walters State forced a fourth set with a 25-12 third set win, but the Indians edged out a 25-21 win in the fourth set to pick up the victory.

Kailynn Johnson (Olive Branch) had a team-high 13 kills, followed by Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) with 10 kills.

Thornell led the team with 19 of their 73 digs and Olivia Hines (Olive Branch) and Lydia Hitchcock (Boaz, Ala.) followed with 12 each.

Audrey Hamill (Pontotoc) led the team with 19 assists and Thornell added 16.
