Indians beat Pensacola Christian, 3-1

Pensacola, Fla. – In the nightcap of the doubleheader at Pensacola Christian College, Itawamba Community College volleyball took on the hosting Eagles and picked up a 3-1 win.

The Indians (10-2) won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-21, but the Eagles edged out 25-23 win in the third set to prevent the sweep. In the fourth set, the Indians rallied from an early deficit to pick up a 25-19 win.

Kailynn Johnson (Olive Branch) led the Indians offensively with 14 kills, followed by Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) with 13.

Olivia Hines (Olive Branch) continued her big day with a 21 dig performance as the Indians combined for 85 digs, which tie a season-high, in the match. Along with Hines 20 digs, Thornell added 14 and Brooklyn Ward (Columbus) had 13.

Thornell led the team with 22 assists, followed by Audrey Hamill (Pontotoc) with 19.

The Indians will play their first region match Friday when they host Northwest Mississippi Community College at 5 p.m. in Fulton.
