Indians battle with No. 15 Gulf Coast State

Pensacola, Fla. – The Itawamba Community College volleyball team battled with No. 15 Gulf Coast State in their first game of a doubleheader at Pensacola Christian College's Tuesday.

In the first set, the Indians (9-2) held their own, but the Commodores edged out a 25-22 win. The Commodores took a 2-0 lead with a 25-18 win in the second set, but the Indians stayed alive winning the third set, 25-20.

The Commodores held off the Indians in the fourth set to pick up a 25-19 set win and the 3-1 victory.

Olivia Hines (Olive Branch) led the Indians defensively with 20 of the team's 63 digs while Kailynn Johnson (Olive Branch) led things on the other side with 10 kills.

Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) picked up a team-high 15 assists, followed by Audrey Hamill (Pontotoc) with 14.
