Indians drop hard fought battle to Pearl River

Columbus, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision in a hard-fought battle with Pearl River at the MUW Owl Invitational Saturday.

In the first two sets, the Indians (8-1) won a 26-24 battle in the first set and took the second set 25-14. Pearl River rallied to win the third and fourth sets, 25-20 and 25-16 to force the fifth and final set.

The Indians took an early lead in the fifth set, but a Pearl River timeout seemed to switch the game's momentum and the Wildcats defeated the Indians 15-8 for their first loss of the season.

Hamill also picked up 11 assists in the game.

The Indians will look to get back on the winning ways Sunday, when they face MUW's JV at 11 a.m. to close out the MUW Owl Invitational.
