Indians defeat MUW JV to remain unbeaten

Columbus, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College volleyball program ended a two week break with a 3-0 win over the Mississippi University for Women's JV team Tuesday night.

The first set was a tight battle with the Indians (6-0) winning 25-23, but the Tribe completed the straight set victory by winning the next two sets 25-15 and 25-21.

Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) led the charge with a team-high 12 kills and team-high 12 assists while adding 11 digs.

Kailynn Johnson (Olive Branch)had a team-high 13 digs and Brooklyn Ward (Columbus) picked up 11.

Lydia Hitchcock (Boaz, Ala.) picked up 10 assists in the contest and combine with Thornell, accounted for 22 of the Indians' 36 assists.

The Indians look to remain unbeaten against a tough and familiar opponent Wednesday night in Fulton, when Pearl River Community College visits the Davis Event Center. The in-state rivals will go head-to-head at 5 p.m. and the game will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
