Indians defeat Lawson State, 3-0

Fulton, Miss. – The Indians returned to their home court Friday night and picked up a 3-0 win over Lawson State.

In the opening set, the Indians led big midway through, but had to hold off a late rally from Lawson State to pick up the 25-20 win.

The second set was a battle early on, but the Indians (14-6) pulled away late to take a 2-0 lead with a 25-14 win.

To cap off the night, the Indians won the third set 25-19 to complete the sweep and win their third straight game.

Zakhia Taylor (Olive Branch) led the Indians with 8 kills while Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) picked up 20 assists. Londyn Bakeris (Olive Branch) had an impressive 21 digs to help the Indian defense pick up the win.

The Indians will compete in the Wallace State Fall Bash Tournament Oct. 15-16. Their first game will be against the hosting Lions at 1 p.m. Friday followed by a match against Coastal Alabama-South at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Indians will take on Snead State at 11 a.m. and Gadsden State at 3 p.m.
