Fulton, Miss. – The Indians picked up their sixth straight win Wednesday night with a 3-0 win over Bevill State.
It was a tight battle early in the contest with the team exchanging points, but the Indians (11-5) was able to pull away to pick up the 25-18 opening set win.
The Indians and Bears went back-and-forth early in the second set as well but an 8-2 run by the Tribe gave them a 19-10 advantage forcing a Bevill State timeout. Coming out the timeout, the Indians went on a 6-2 run to close out the second set and pick up the 25-12 win.
In the third set, Kate Nakagawa (Corinth) went on service run that included six aces to help the Indians win the third set 25-9 and pick up the 3-0 victory.
Nine Indians recorded a kill in the game lead by Mary Leslie Cranford (Covington, Tenn.) with a team-high eight kills, and Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) had a team-high 17 assists.
The Indians will carry their six game-win streak on the road Friday when they square off with region opponent Pearl River.
