Indians defeat Gadsden State, 3-1

Fulton, Miss. – In their second game of the ICC / NWCC Crossover Tournament, the Indians picked up a 3-1 victory over Gadsden State Friday night.

Similar to the opening match of the day against St. Louis, the Indians (9-5) split the opening two sets. The Indians won the first set 25-22, but dropped the second set, 25-16.

In the third set, the Indians battled and picked up the 25-23 win and then finished off the day with a 25-19 fourth set win to grab the 3-1 win.

Mary Leslie Cranford (Covington, Tenn.) and Zakhia Taylor (Olive Branch) led the charge for the Indians has they both finished with double digits kills. Cranford had a game-high 13, while Taylor followed with 10.

Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) had 32 assists and had 20 digs in the game.  Londyn Bakeris (Olive Branch) added 11 digs.

The Indians will wrap up the tournament Saturday with a match against Southern Union State at 1 p.m.
