Indians defeat Northwest, 3-1

Fulton, Miss. – After playing each other in three exhibitions, the Indians and Northwest went head-to-head for the first time in a game that counts. It was a battle from the beginning, but the Indians were able to pick up the 3-1 victory.

The Indians won an intense first set 25-19 and the Rangers responded taking the second set 25-21. In the third and fourth set, the Indians picked up 25-16 and 25-17 wins to take the big 3-1 win and move one step closer to postseason play.

Mary Leslie Cranford
(Covington, Tenn.) led the Indians with 12 kills followed by LaMaya Newsome (Southaven) with 11 and Brianna Williams (Olive Branch) with 10.

Morgan Lee (Olive Branch) had a big game with a team-high 38 assists of the Indians 42 in the game.

Londyn Bakeris (Olive Branch) had a team-high 23 digs, followed by Lee with 15 and Angie Gonzalez (Walls) with 11.

The Indians and Rangers will meet again Saturday for a game that has big implications for the Indians. An ICC victory would clinch a postseason berth, but a Ranger win would force a tie braking game to be scheduled.
