Indians win intense battle with Pearl River

Poplarville, Miss. – In their first regular season meeting, the Indians and Pearl River Wildcats went head-to-head in an intense in-state showdown, but the Indians were able to pick up the 3-1 road win.

The first two sets couldn't be settled at 25 with the Indians winning the first set 27-25 and the Wildcats taking the second by the same 27-25 score. The final two sets were just as close with both teams battling. However, the Indians were able to win the third set, 25-20 and close out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth.

Lauryn Fitzgerald (Nesbit) and Zakhia Taylor (Olive Branch) combined for 25 kills with Taylor having a team-high 13 and Fitzgerald 12.

Morgan Lee (Olive Branch) had a team-high 26 assists and Karli Rae Rushing (Fayette, Ala.) followed with 11 assists.

Londyn Bakeris (Olive Branch) had a team-high 18 digs while Angie Gonzalez (Walls), Lee and Fitzgerald added eight digs each.

The Indians will travel to Coastal Alabama East for three games.
