Indians downed by host Snead State

Boaz, Ala. – The ICC volleyball team fell to host Snead State in three sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-22) on Saturday at Boaz High School.

Zakhia Taylor (Olive Branch) led the Indians' attack with seven kills while Brianna Williams (Olive Branch) added five in the loss. Morgan Lee (Olive Branch) finished the match with 12 assists.

Lee, Londyn Bakeris (Olive Branch), Angie Gonzalez (Walls), and Lauryn Fitzgerald (Nesbit) each had six digs in the match.

Taylor led the Indians with five blocks and added five digs on the day.

First Set

The Indians jumped out to a 19-14 lead before Snead State went on a 5-0 run out of a timeout to tie the match at 19-all. ICC appeared to take control of the match when three-straight questionable calls went against the Indians and allowed the Parsons to take a 23-20 advantage before picking up the 25-21 win in the opening set.

Second Set

ICC trailed by four before rallying to cut the Parsons' lead to 17-16 but Snead answered with an impressive 8-3 run to close the door on the Indians' rally and take a 2-0 advantage.

Third Set

The Indians came out on fire in the third set and built a 12-4 lead before the Parsons took a timeout. Snead slowly chipped away at the Indians' advantage and closed the match on a 6-1 run to complete the sweep.

Up next for the Indians will be a trip to Poplarville to face Pearl River on Thursday, Jan. 28 with the first set scheduled for 5 p.m. The match will be available on prccmedia.com
