Lady Indians set to participate in NJCAA Region 23 Tennis Championship

FULTON, Miss. – The women's tennis team earned the No. 5 seed in this week's NJCAA Region 23 Tennis Championships at Jones College.

The No. 15 Lady Indians will face No. 16 Co-Lin on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Early this season, the Lady Indians dropped a 6-3 decision at Co-Lin. The winner will face the winner between No. 10 Jones College and No. 25 East Central at 10 a.m. Friday in the semifinals. The winner of Friday's match will advance to Saturday's championship match at 10 a.m. while the loser will play in the consolation match at 2 p.m.

Tournament Seeding

1. No. 10 Jones College
2. No. 12 Gulf Coast
3. No. 14 Meridian
4. No. 16 Co-Lin
5. No. 15 Itawamba
6. No. 21 Northwest
7. No. 22 Hinds
8. No. 25 East Central

The tournament format will mirror that of the MACCC regular season matches. The match will start with doubles play and will have a five-minute break before starting singles action after the conclusion of doubles play. Once five courts have been won by a team, the match will be completed. Doubles will be determined by an eight-game pro set with a seven-point tiebreak at 8-8. Singles will be determined by a best of two of three tiebreak sets match.

Spectator parking will be located in the parking lot area behind the baseball and softball fields. There will be no charge for admission over the three-day event. All matches will be scored live through IonCourt.com.
