Lady Indians season concludes in MACJC and NJCAA tournaments

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The ICC women's tennis team concluded its season Thursday in the opening rounds of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 tournaments on Thursday.

In No. 2 doubles, Caroline Ferguson (Tupelo) and Madison Mayhall (Corinth) battled the fourth seeded duo of Madison Curtis and Anna Hayden Taylor of Hinds Community College to a 7-6(3) decision in the opening set before falling 6-3 in the final set.

Bailey Gillentine (Mooreville) and Kaitlyn Meadows (Brandon) dropped a 6-1; 6-0 decision to the fourth seeded Ariadna Jordan and Mireia Jordan of Jones County in No. 1 doubles play. Claire Ferguson (Mantee) and Lizbeth Jiminez (Pontotoc) fell 6-2; 6-1 to the second seeded Kelsea Baksh and Katherine Mitchell of Meridian.

In three of their six singles matches, the Lady Indians faced the overall number one seed.

Gillentine fell 6-1; 6-2 to Margarita Lopareva of Gulf Coast in No. 2 singles. Mayhall dropped a pair of 6-0 decisions to Beth Owen of Jones County in No. 3 singles and Caroline Ferguson saw Madison Curtis of Hinds pick up a 6-1; 6-0 win in No. 4 singles.

In No. 1 singles, Meadows fell 6-1, 6-1 to fourth seeded Stefy Varon of Hinds. Claire Ferguson dropped a 6-0; 6-2 decision to second seeded Katherina Mitchell of Meridian in No. 5 singles. Georgia Claire Campbell (Pontotoc) was defeated 6-3; 6-2 by fourth seeded Anna Hayden Taylor of Hinds in No. 6 singles.
