Lady Indians show improvement in loss to East Central, 6-3

DECATUR, Miss. – The Lady Indians continued to show improvements in a 6-3 loss to East Central Community College on Friday.

The Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Indians 9-0 on February 23 in Fulton.

Kaitlyn Meadows (Brandon) defeated Madison Crapps in No. 1 singles after picking up a 7-2 tiebreaker in the second set. She picked up a 6-0 win in the first set of the match.

Meadows teamed with Bailey Gillentine (Mooreville) to defeat Bethany Wellerman and Tatiana Quinonez 8-4 in No. 1 doubles play. Caroline Ferguson (Tupelo) and Madison Mayhall (Corinth) knocked off Caylee Yarborough and Alex Tindall 8-1 in No. 2 doubles action.

Lizbeth Jiminez (Pontotoc) and Claire Ferguson (Mantee) dropped an 8-5 decision to Julia Johnston and Sara Mazella in No. 3 doubles.

Gillentine dropped the first set 7-6 after Quinonez won the tiebreaker 7-4 in No. 2 singles before she secured the point for East Central with a 6-2 win in the second set. Mayhall dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision to Tindall in No. 3 singles action.

Caroline Ferguson fell 6-2, 6-2 to Yarborough in No. 4 singles play and Claire Ferguson lost 6-2, 6-0 to Wellerman in No. 5 singles. No. 6 singles entry Gillentine dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Johnston.

The Lady Indians will travel to Perkinston to face No. 16 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Friday, March 23.
