Campbell battles, Lady Indians fall to No. 22 Jones, 9-0

FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians dropped their fifth-straight behind a 9-0 loss to No. 22 Jones County Junior College on Thursday.

Georgia Claire Campbell (Pontotoc) dropped a three-set battle to Brooke Cran in No. 6 singles play. Cran fought to a 7-6 win in the first set, but Campbell rallied with a 7-6 win of her own in the second set. Both players fought and clawed for each point in the extra frame before Cran was able to sneak out of the set with a 10-7 win to earn the point for the Lady Bobcats.

Kaitlyn Meadows (Brandon) fell 6-0, 6-1 to the No. 40 singles player Mireia Jordan in No. 1 singles action. No. 44 singles player Ariadna Jordan defeated Bailey Gillentine (Mooreville) 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.

Maidson Mayhall (Corinth) dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Beth Owen in No. 3 singles while No. 4 singles entry Caroline Ferguson (Tupelo) fell 6-3, 6-4 to Kaylee McLaurin. Claire Ferguson (Mantee) saw August Parker picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win in No. 5 singles play.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Jordan and Jordan defeated Meadows and Gillentine 8-4 while Owen and McLaurin knocked off Caroline Ferguson and Mayhall 8-1 in No. 2 doubles play. Jiminez and Claire Ferguson fell to Parker and Cran 8-2 in No. 3 doubles action.

ICC will travel to Decatur to take on East Central Community College on Friday.
