Mayhall wins, Lady Indians fall to No. 25 Hinds, 8-1

FULTON, Miss. – Madison Mayhall continued her hot play in the Lady Indians 8-1 loss to No. 25 Hinds Community College on Saturday.

Mayhall (Corinth) picked up the first win of the season for the Lady Indians (0-3) with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Olivia White in No. 3 singles play.

Kaitlyn Meadows (Brandon) dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to No. 41 singles player Stefy Varon-Diaz in No. 1 singles and Bailey Gillentine (Mooreville) fell to the No. 48 singles player Paula Scarlet Gutierrez 6-2, 6-1 in No. 2 singles action.

Caroline Ferguson (Tupelo) dropped her No. 4 singles match with Jordan Warren 6-0, 6-1. Claire Ferguson (Mantee) lost 6-0, 6-0 to Madison Curtis before Lizbeth Jiminez (Pontotoc) dropped a pair of hard-fought sets 7-5, 7-5 in No. 6 singles play to Anna Hayden Taylor.

Meadows and Gillentine fell to Varon-Diaz and Gutierrez 8-2 in No. 1 doubles play with Caroline Ferguson and Mayhall dropped their No. 2 doubles match 8-3 to Curtis and Taylor. Jiminez and Claire Ferguson rallied but came up short to Warren and Courtney Buffington 8-5 in No. 3 doubles.

The Lady Indians set out of conference play to take on Wallace-Hanceville on Tuesday.
