Lady Indians fall to No. 19 Meridian, 9-0

MERIDIAN, Miss. – The Lady Indians opened the 2018 season with a 9-0 road loss at No. 19 Meridian Community College on Tuesday.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Kaitlyn Meadows (Brandon) and Bailey Gillentine (Mooreville) took Julia McCarty and Amanda Lowery to the wire before dropping an 8-6 decision.

In No. 2 doubles action, Madison Mayhall (Corinth) and Caroline Ferguson (Tupelo) dropped an 8-2 game to Kennedy Rodriguez and Rachel Jollie while Georgia Claire Campbell (Pontotoc) and Claire Ferguson fell 8-2 to Katherin Mitchell and Kelsea Baksh in No. 3 doubles play.

Meadows fell 6-4, 6-4 to McCarty in No. 1 singles play. Gillentine dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Rodriguez in No. 2 singles action.

Mayhall dropped a hard-fought 7-5 set before dropping a 6-1 second set to fall to Jollie in No. 3 singles.

Caroline Ferguson fell 6-1, 6-3 to Lowery in No. 4 singles action before No. 5 singles entry Claire Ferguson fell to Mitchell 6-1, 6-2. Lizbeth Jiminez (Pontotoc) dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Baksh in No. 6 singles play.

ICC will travel to Goodman to take on Holmes on Saturday.
