Lady Indians fall to nationally ranked Lady Eagles

FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College women's tennis faced a tough opponent Saturday as they hosted No. 21 Hinds Community College, who picked up a 9-0 victory.
The Lady Indians (1-4) battled during every game, set and match and forced two super sets in singles action and took the No. 2 doubles to the limit, but came up just short.
Karlin Garrett (Tupelo) and Lizbeth Jiminez (Pontotoc) played were involved in both of the single's super sets and the No. 2 doubles battle.
The duo pushed Hinds' Mary Neely Meyers and Rutchelyn Elizar to the breaking point in No. 2 doubles but feel just short as the Lady Eagles pickedup the 9-8 (6) tiebreaker win.
Garrett and Meyers matched up in No. 3 Singles as well with Garrett taking the first game 6-4. However, Meyers rallied to take the second game 7-5, forcing the tie breaking super set, where she was able to pick up the 10-3 win.
Jiminez saw a new opponent in No. 5 singles in Jordan Warren. After dropping the first game 6-4, Jiminez took the second 6-1, but fell 10-6 in the super set tie breaker.
