Lady Indians pick up first win with 9-0 victory over Holmes

FULTON, MS – After dropping three tough matches to start the season, the Itawamba Community College women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season Friday be defeating Holmes 9-0.
The Lady Indians (1-3) started the day with a 3-0 advantage as Holmes was unable to bring their entire team to Fulton, forfeiting No. 3 doubles, No.5 and No.6 singles. That 3-0 lead quickly turned into a 5-0 lead for ICC as they swept doubles action.
Jordan Roberts (Shannon) and Bailey Gillentine (Mooreville) shut out their opponent in No. 1 doubles 8-0 and Karlin Garrett (Tupelo) and Lizbeth Jiminez (Pontotoc) teamed up for an 8-1 win in No.2 doubles.
Roberts picked up another shutout in No. 1 singles winning 6-0, 6-0 and Gillentine took No. 2 single 6-2, 6-1.
Garrett won No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Georgia Claire Campbell (Pontotoc) finished the day winning No. 4 singles 6-2, 6-0.
The Lady Indians will continue their long home stand on Saturday as they host No. 21 Hinds Community College at 11 a.m.
