Lady Indians wrap up stellar season with Top 20 finish in nationals

TUCSON, AZ – The Lady Indians wrapped up a stellar season with a Top 20 finish in the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's DI National Tennis Tournament last week in Tucson, Arizona.
The No. 18 Lady Indians earned 14.5 points to finish seventeenth amongst the nation's top 30 programs.
Anna Claire Griffin (Iuka) won the No. 4 singles consolation championship while Kacey Byrd (Mooreville) advanced to the "Great Eight" of the No. 6 singles championship bracket before being eliminated by runner-up of the individual national title Casey O'Toole of State College of Florida.
No. 1 singles participant Taylor Patterson (Munford, TN) and No. 5 singles player Aliesha Hudson (Yazoo) both advance to their respective consolation semifinals before being eliminated from tournament play.
Andria Barnes (Mooreville) advanced to the quarterfinals of the No. 2 singles consolation bracket while Ivy Robbins (Pontotoc) advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the No. 3 singles championship bracket.

All three doubles teams advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the championship bracket.
The No. 3 tandem of Barnes and Madison Scott (Mooreville) were eliminated after dropping a tiebreaker to Natalie Hernandez and Lina Restrepo of Broward College, who finished fourth as a team.
ASA College of New York won its second-straight national title after sweeping all championship flights. The Avengers are the first team to accomplish such a feat since Midland College in 1991.
Tyler Junior College of Texas finished second while State College of Florida earned a third place finish.

ICC finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record and earned the MACJC State Championship and a share of the NJCAA Region 23 crown with five players earning individual state and regional titles.
