Nationally ranked Lady Indians down Northwest

SENATOBIA, MS – The No. 21 Itawamba Community College Lady Indians remain perfect after defeated Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, 7-2.
In doubles action, the Mooreville native team of Madison Scott (Mooreville) and Kacey Byrd (Mooreville) picked up an 8-0 win and the dynamic duo of Ivy Robbins (Pontotoc) and Anna Claire Griffin (Iuka) grabbed an 8-4 victory.
The Lady Indians (6-0) ran through the Lady Rangers in singles competition winning five of the six matches. Taylor Patterson (Munford, TN), who is ranked 39th nationally, picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win followed by big wins from Byrd, Scott, Robbins and Griffin.
Northwest was able to grab one match from the Lady Indians as Katey Gardner (Saltillo) dropped a heartbreaker 6-6 (7-0), 7-5.
The Lady Indians will host No. 17 Meridian Community College Thursday for a rematch from the 5-4 ICC win earlier this season. The two nationally ranked squads will square off beginning at 2 p.m. on the Johnson-Partlow Courts.
