Lady Indians open NJCAA Tournament play on Sunday

The back-to-back-to-back state champion Lady Indians will have little time to enjoy their trip to Arizona as all seven ladies making the trip to The Copper State will be in action on the first day of the 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's Tennis National Championship tournament at the Reffkin Tennis Center in Tucson.
In No. 1 singles action Amy Evans (Ravenshoe, Queensland) will square off against Sonora Ijdo of Harford Community College. No. 2 singles player Katherine Downing (Pontotoc) will face Maja Sasa of Eastern Arizona College while Anna-Blair Hunt (Senatobia) will take on St. Petersburg College's Anri Ueno. No. 4 singles Bianca Stephens (Hernando) will go head-to-head against Aspen McCann of Barton Community College. No. 5 singles Theresa Jackson (Clarksdale) will hit the court against Ashley Pedro of Eastern Arizona College while No. 6 singles Amber Frederick (Shannon) battles Josie Masinelli of Lewis & Clark Community College.
In the afternoon doubles session, Evans and Downing will team up against Karina Ono and Michelle Miller of Barton Community College in No. 1 action. Hunt and Jackson will square off against Sierra Pizarro and Jocelyn Martinez of Temple College while Stephens and Frankie Turner (Pontotoc) face Barton Community College's Jamie Christiansen and Gentry McLeland.
Winners from Day 1 will continue to the single-elimination championship bracket while the loser fall into in the single-elimination consolation bracket.
