No. 17 Lady Indians’ historic season ends against Holmes in Region 23 Quarterfinals

RIDGELAND - The historic 2023 season for the Itawamba Community College women's soccer program ended Saturday in the Region 23 Quarterfinals following a 9-2 loss to No. 4 Holmes.

The No. 17 Lady Indians started slow, allowing the Lady Bulldogs to score the first three goals with two being corner kicks. Macey Riggs (Hernando) scored ICC's first goal of the afternoon, sending the game into halftime with the Lady Indians trailing 3-1.

After the break, Holmes added four more goals to make it 8-1 until Riggs scored her second goal, but the Lady Indians just couldn't overcome the deficit.

The Lady Indians finished the season 14-6 overall and 6-5 in conference play, and they rewrote the program's history with accomplishments such as setting the mark for the best start to a season and team goals in a single season (79).
