No. 16 Lady Indians knocks off Southwest

SUMMIT, Miss. – The No. 16 Lady Indians punched their ticket to the playoffs with a 2-1 win over Southwest on Friday.

Melaine Huber scored off an assist from Beth Llyod to give the Lady Indians a 1-0 advantage midway through the first half. Lloyd pushed the lead out to 2-0 off an assist from Julia Beckneckenstein with under 15 minutes left until halftime.

Southwest got back in the match with a goal in the 78th minute, but the Lady Indians defense held strong down the stretch to pick up the road win.

Asia Robinson collected 10 saves and allowed one goal in a complete game effort in net.  

The Lady Indians will host Meridian at 1 p.m. Tuesday for Sophomore Day.
