Lady Indians advance to conference semifinals with shutout victory over Gulf Coast

Fulton, Miss. – The Lady Indians punched their ticket to the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Tournament with a 4-0 quarterfinals victory over Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Halle Moore (Oxford) put the Lady Indians in front early with a goal at the 14th minute, and held the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Ashley Stevens (Amory) extended the lead to 2-0 on a goal off an assist from Ally Shinall (Oxford) at the 47th minute, and three minutes later, Lucy Dexter (Tupelo) scored the game's third goal.

Brittany Mathis (Pontotoc) netted the game's final goal off an assist from Stevens at the 55th minute and Anna Wesleigh Driskell (Tupelo) secured the shutout making five saves in the match.

The win extended the Lady Indians (16-3) win streak to 15 straight and was the eighth shutout of the season.

The Lady Indians will face Pearl River in the semifinals at Hinds Saturday at 11 a.m.
