Driskell, Stevens sweep MACJC Player of the Week honors

Fulton, Miss. – It was a clean sweep of the women's soccer Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Player of the Week honors with Itawamba Community College's Ashley Stevens (Amory) being named Player of the Week, and Anna Wesleigh Driskell (Tupelo) earning her third straight Keeper of the Week honor.

The freshman duo helped the Lady Indians (11-3, 5-1 MACJC North) go 2-0 last week with a 3-2 win over then No. 17 Holmes and a 5-0 victory over Hinds.

Stevens scored three goals last week on five shots on goal, including the game winner vs Holmes and a pair of second half goals in the win over Hinds.

Driskell continued her successful season grabbing 13 saves on 15 shots on goal and picked up her fifth shutout of the season. She has been named the conference's best keeper four times this season.

The pair will now be eligible for National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) weekly honors that will be announced Wednesday.

The Lady Indians will put their 10-game win streak on the line today at East Central with kickoff schedule for 1 p.m.
