Lady Indians extend win streak to nine with upset of No. 17 Holmes

Fulton, Miss. – The Lady Indians extended their current win streak to nine as they pulled off to 3-2 upset of No. 17 Holmes Tuesday.

The hard fought North Division showdown came down to the wire with Ashley Stevens (Amory) breaking the tie with the game winning goal off a rebound at the 83rd minute.

After falling behind at the 3rd minute, the Lady Indians (10-3, 4-1 MACJC North) netted the equalizer at the 7th minute off the foot of Emily Hayward (Oxford).

(Oxford) gave the Lady Indians their first lead of the game right before halftime, as she headed in the ball off an assist from Ally Shinall (Oxford) at the 41st minute.

Holmes tied the game one minute into the second half, but ICC keeper Anna Wesleigh Driskell (Tupelo), who grabbed eight save, wouldn't allow another goal to set up the late win.

The win puts in the Lady Indians in a tie for first place of the North Division with Holmes with both squads having three division dates remaining. Next for the Tribe is on the road Friday against Hinds with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. in Raymond.
