Lady Indians fall to Holmes in division opener

Ridgeland, Miss. – In the North Division opener, the Lady Indians jumped out to an early lead, but Holmes scored four unanswered goals in the second half to pick up the 4-2 win.

The Lady Indians (1-3, 0-1 MACJC North) found the back of the net at the 10th minute off the foot of sophomore Sarah Whitt (Pontotoc).

At the 24th minute, the Lady Indians extended their lead to 2-0 as Brittany Mathis (Pontotoc) scored on a ball from Emily Hayward (Oxford).

The Lady Indians held the 2-0 lead through halftime, but Holmes scored quickly in the second half to cut their deficit to 2-1.

At the 68th minute, Holmes netted the equalizer, and scored the go-ahead goal at the 85th minute. In the final minute, the Lady Bulldogs added an insurance goal to pick up the 4-2 win.

The Lady Indians will host Hinds Tuesday for another North Division showdown at 2 p.m. on LetsGoICCTV.com/red
