Lady Indians shutout Northwest to secure second place

SENATOBIA, Miss. – The Lady Indians secured home field advantage in the opening round of the playoffs as the No. 2 seed from the North Division with a 2-0 win over Northwest on Tuesday.

How it Happened

Grace Joyce (Oxford) sent the first goal of the match between the legs of a Lady Ranger defender off an assist from Lexi Pund (Tupelo) to give the Lady Indians the 1-0 advantage in the 13th minute.

Sarah Whitt (Pontotoc) scored an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute to put the game on ice for the Lady Indians.

Merrie Kate Grayson (Tupelo) and Savannah Sartin (Fulton)

The duo combined for the Lady Indians' third shutout of the season. Grayson had three saves in the first half and Sartin added a save in the second half.

"I'm super proud to just get a result that says 2-0, but more importantly, probably on the score line, where it says zero for the shutout," said Coach David Strother.
