Lady Indians handle Hinds to secure spot in playoffs

RAYMOND, Miss. – The Lady Indians (8-3-1, 4-2-0 MACJC North) made up for a 1-0 loss to Hinds on Monday and secured a spot in the playoffs with a dominating 4-1 win in Raymond.

How it Happened

Grace Joyce (Oxford) banked in a shot off the post to give the Lady Indians a 1-0 advantage in the 4th minute.

Joyce added her second goal of the match in the 12th minute to put ICC up 2-0 at the break.

Addison Meadows (Oxford) got one over the keeper from distance to put the Lady Indians up 3-0 midway through the second half.

Four minutes later, Joyce collected her third goal of the match to put ICC up 4-0.

Hinds got on the board in the 70th minute to make it a 4-1 margin of victory for the Lady Indians.

The freshman forward recorded her first collegiate hat trick to help the Lady Indians reclaim second place in the North.

"We performed really well as a team," Joyce said after the match. "It was really nice to see us come out here and fight after losing to these guys on Monday. Just to work as well as we did together to get this win is really great."

Up Next: The Lady Indians will look up second place in North Division play as they travel to Senatobia to take on Northwest at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

A win by the Lady Indians will secure second place in the North and will guarantee a home match in the opening round of the playoffs on Thursday, October 18. A loss on Tuesday, Northwest would have to beat Hinds by three or more goals to overtake the Lady Indians for second place.
