FULTON, Miss. – In their second game in three days,the Lady Indians (7-3-1, 3-2 MACJC North) defeated East Central 5-4 on a game winner in the 88th minute.
How It Happened
Ally Shinall (Oxford) put the Lady Indians on the board with a goal over the keeper's head from about 30-feet out at the 7th minute.
East Central found the equalizer at the 14th minute, but the Lady Indians regained the lead when Lexi Pund (Tupelo) scored off an assist from Shinall.
After halftime, Grace Joyce (Oxford) off an assist from Pund to extend the lead to 3-1 four minutes into the second half.
East Central was awarded a penalty kick at the 65th minute and found the back of the net to cut the lead to 3-2. However, over the next two minutes, the Lady Warriors found the back of the net two more times to take a 4-3 with just under 20 minutes left in the contest.
After seeing their two goal advantage disappear and become a deficit, the Lady Indians rallied to tie the game as Sarah Whitt (Pontotoc) netted the equalizer at the 75th minute off an assist from Shinall.
The game appeared to be headed to extra time but Brittany Mathis (Pontotoc) headed in the game winner off an assist from Pund at the 88th minute.

Pund and Shinall had one goal and two assists each in the thrilling division game.

"It was a fight," said Coach David Strother. "We're still trying to find our identity, but we found a lot here today and fought all the way through the game and made it happen. I'm thankful for the effort our girls put in today."
Up Next: ICC will travel to Raymond Friday for a North Division game against Hinds Community College at 5 p.m.
