FULTON, Miss. – Itawamba Community College sophomore keeper Haley McGill was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Keeper of the Week on Wednesday.
McGill (Guntown) helped the Lady Indians start the season 3-0 for the first time in 11 years after totaling 14 saves on 15 shots on goal and only one goal allowed in 115 minutes in net.
In the Lady Indians' first match of the season, she collected five saves in a 4-1 win at Pearl River. She made four saves and combined with fellow keepers Merrie Kate Grayson (Tupelo) and Savannah Sartin (Fulton) for a clean sheet in the Lady Indians' impressive 6-0 victory over Southwest. McGill closed out her week with five saves and allowed her first goal of the season in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over East Central to open North Division play.
The award is the second of McGill's career at ICC. Her first coming in October of 2017 after collecting 10 saves in a pair of shutout victories over East Central and Hinds.
After Wednesday's matches against Hinds were postponed due to weather concerns, McGill and the Lady Indians will continue division play at home against Northwest on Friday.
