POPLARVILLE, MS – The Itawamba Community College women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season, 2-0, to back-to-back defending Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) champions to wrap up their weekend coast swing to open the season.

The Lady Indians (0-1-1) started freshman center back Jennifer Hosey (Richland) in net with both keepers missing the Saturday afternoon match due to injuries. Despite it not being her natural position, Hosey finished the day with 11 saves on 13 shots on goal with a large majority of them coming midway through the second half against an exhausted ICC defense.

Pearl River (1-0-0) finally broke through the relentless Lady Indian defense when Alycia Schwartz (Gulfport) scored off a corner kick in the 70th minute before picking up an insurance goal in the 79th minute on a Mellie Snyder (Leakesville) on a well-placed top shelf goal.

The Lady Indians will return home on Tuesday to face Copiah-Lincoln Community College at 2:00 p.m. with the Indians scheduled to follow at 4:00 p.m. The matches will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com pending weather conditions.
