DECATUR, MS – The Itawamba Community College women's soccer squad took undefeated East Central Community College to the limit on Friday afternoon, but came up just short, falling 3-2.
The Lady Indians (0-3, 0-2 MACJC North Division) fell behind 2-0 in the first half, but early in the second half freshman midfielder Hope Burton (Caledonia) found the back of the net off an assist from Katie Foshee (Southaven), cutting the Lady Warrior lead in half.
After about 20 minutes of hard fought play, the Lady Warriors added an insurance goal, but Foshee quickly pull the Lady Indians back within one with her first goal of the year.
The Lady Indians attacked the net in the final 10 minutes of play, but were unable to find the equalizer, dropping the MACJC North Division road test, 3-2.
It will be another road test for the Lady Indians this week as they travel to Senatobia Wednesday for another division showdown against Northwest Mississippi Community College, before returning home Friday to battle with Holmes Community College. Both matches are scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
