FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College has long been known for success both athletically and academically and the ICC women's soccer team is continuing that high level of success in the classroom.

The Lady Indians finished the semester with an all-time high 3.54 team GPA according to Coach Cody Carson

"Most of the time this is a worrisome part of the year for coaches, but the past two years our girls have dedicated themselves in the classroom as much as they have on the field," said Carson. "We couldn't be any prouder of the group of young women we have representing our program as well as the college."

Jessie Capps (Tishomingo County), Demi Menotti (New Hope), Keely Mitchell (Saltillo), Katie Proctor (Columbus), Mary Margaret Swain (New Hope), Sophia Timm (Columbus), and Erica Wigginton (Tishomingo County) all finished the semester with a 4.0 GPA.

Last year, the team finished second in the nation with a 3.44 team GPA with former Lady Indians Ragan Ostrowski (Amory), Lauren Swee (Chelsea, AL), Ashley Malone (Michie, TN), and Anna Holley (New Hope) all earning nominations to the CoSIDA Capital One All-Academic team.

"We fully expect this year's team to keep up the good work next semester to hopefully be able to earn the NJCAA National Academic Championship that we came so close to last season," Carson commented.

This season Menotti and Proctor along with fellow sophomores Amber Carruth (Amory), Amanda Segovia (Amory), and Lindsey Burton (Caledonia) were nominated for CoSIDA Capital One All-Academic honors.

"We owe a lot of the credit to the support the Student Success Center, Writing Center, PACE program, and all the faculty members give all our players to help build a firm academic foundation to be able to be so successful in the classroom," said Carson.
