Carruth, Segovia sign with the Lady Indians soccer program

Itawamba soccer coach Mike Sullivan has been recruiting Amory soccer players for a decade.

This past Wednesday he got two more with Lady Panther seniors Amber Carruth and Amanda Segovia.

"I've been coming over here 10 years and getting players and we haven't been let down many times. We're looking forward to that trend continuing," Sullivan said.

Amory coach Nathan Clayton said the Lady Indians are getting two hard-working and versatile players.

"Both of them are going to work hard both on the field and off the field," Clayton said. "Amber is a real versatile player. This year she's played some on offense, defense and some in the midfield for us."

"Amanda is the same way. A couple of years ago we needed a goalkeeper. She stepped in and played keeper. She's been solid on our back line this year."

Carruth said seeing former teammates including Lara Evans and current freshman Ragan Ostrowski sign with ICC helped her decide she wanted to follow.

"I've been looking forward to this for quite some time," Carruth said. "It's very exciting and I'm very proud I get the chance to go."

Segovia said being recruited to play college soccer has made her want to be better at the high school level as well.

"It makes me feel better and makes me feel like I should strive better and become a better soccer player," she said.
