Lady Indians overcome slow start, win big over ASU Mid-South

FULTON – The Lady Indians shook off a slow start and finished strong with an 81-56 victory over Arkansas State University Mid-South Tuesday night at the Davis Event Center.

Trailing going into the second quarter and with three minutes to play until halftime, the Lady Indians went on a 10-2 run to end the first half, a catalyst for the 25-point win.

Jestiny Dixon (Foley, Ala.) led all scoring with 14 points; Allie Beckley (Pontotoc) added 12; and Arianna Durrell (Clinton) and Makayla Rieves (Columbus), 10 each. Ayonna Naylor (Clinton) had a team-best six rebounds; Kenijha Flowers (Clinton) and Leanna Silas (Southaven) each added four; and D'Naylah Williams (Kosciusko) and Durrell, three each.

The Lady Indians (7-0) will play again on Thursday, November 30, when they travel to Decatur, Ala. for a 5:30 p.m. tip against Calhoun.
