Fulton, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College women's basketball team picked up a big conference win by defeating Northwest Mississippi Community College 61-52 Monday night.
The Lady Indians (10-8, 2-7 MACCC) led in every quarter, but the Lady Rangers made a late run in every frame to cut into the lead, including their second quarter run that tied the game at 29-29 going into halftime.
By the end of the third, the Lady Indians led by two, 44-42, but had stretched it to seven, 55-48, with just under four minutes left in the contest.
The Lady Rangers started another later quarter run, but the Lady Indians were able to hold them off and extend their lead to pick up the 61-52 win.
Shayla Golden (Jacksonville, Ark.) and Addison Howell (Olive Branch) led the Lady Indians with 11 points each, followed by Kenijha Flowers (Clinton) with 10 points.
Next up for the Lady Indians is a conference road test at Southwest Mississippi Community College Thursday at 6 p.m. in Summit.
