FULTON, Miss. – Turnovers and missed shots haunted the Lady Indians in their loss to unbeaten Pearl River on Thursday.
The Lady Indians (8-4, 0-3 MACCC) rallied to take a 15-12 lead over the Lady Wildcats (13-0, 3-0 MACCC) by the end of the first quarter. ICC struggled with turnovers and missed shots in a second quarter that allowed Pearl River to rally and take a 30-23 advantage at the break. The Lady Wildcats held the Lady Indians to 22 second-half points to pull away from the 62-45 win.
ICC had 22 turnovers in the loss. It was the second-straight game and fifth game overall that the Lady Indians have committed 20-plus turnovers.
Makayla Rieves (Columbus) scored 11 points while Che'mya Carouthers (Tupelo) added 10 in the third-straight loss for the Lady Indians.
ICC will travel to Clarksdale to take on Coahoma (6-3, 2-0 MACCC) on Monday. The Lady Tigers have opened conference play with wins over East Central and Hinds.
