Lady Indians survive lackluster night at Columbia State

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Lady Indians survived a lackluster performance to pick up a 65-50 win at Columbia State on Monday.

Allie Beckley helped secure the win in the final 1:31 left in the game.

Up 57-50, Beckley drove to the basket and connected on a lay-up to push the lead out to nine for the Lady Indians (6-0). Beckley stole the ensuing inbounds pass by the Lady Chargers (0-9) that resulted in another lay-up for the Lady Indians. The freshman from Pontotoc took a charge on Columbia State's next possession with 42.3 seconds to play before knocking down a pair of free throws to put the game on ice when the Lady Charges were trying to extend the game.

Beckley finished the game 12 points, five steals and four assists.

The Lady Indians committed a season-high 24 turnovers and snapped a 35-game streak of making at least one three-pointer in a game after going 0-for-10 on the night. ICC connected on a season-best 90.5% from the free throw line (19-of-21) and outrebounded Columbia State 37 to 26.

Ayonna Naylor had career-high 13 points, Che'mya Carothers added 12, and Makayla Rieves chipped in another 12 points.

Up next for the Lady Indians, the will travel to Hanceville, AL on Tuesday, November 29, to take on Wallace-State.
