Lady Indians survive Hinds late rally to pick up conference win

Fulton, Miss. - Itawamba Community College women's basketball survived a late fourth quarter rally from Hinds Community College to pick up a 65-55 conference win Tuesday night.

The Lady Indians (10-3, 5-0 MACCC) scored the game's first basket and Hinds was never able to get ahead in the contest. However, the Lady Bulldogs (0-10, 0-5 MACCC) scored 26 fourth quarter points and cut the Lady Indians to six, 61-55, with under a minute to play.

In the final minute, the Lady Indians were able to hit their free throws to hold on to the win after seeing a 25-point lead, 57-32, disappear.

Ky'Leo Worriels (Hinesville, Ga.) led the Lady Indians with 14 points, followed by Demetria Shephard (Pontotoc) with 11 points. Patrice Broomfield paced the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points. 

The Lady Indians will hit the road next Monday night for another conference showdown when they face Meridian Community College at 6:00 p.m. in Meridian.
